The Encouraging Place's Mission
The mission of The Encouraging Places is to create an environment of support for the community that helps to dismantle racism and transform our city into a community that is supportive and encouraging toward all people, regardless of race, gender, history or socioeconomic conditions.
Meet at the Table for Racial Reconciliation
Conducting seminars that help people, Black and White, understand White Privilege; establishing house to house focus sessions to encourage Black and White citizens to come together and participate in open, honest conversation on race and the issues facing our communities; inviting national speakers and authors to Raleigh and engaging the community in discussing the issues of racism.
Sponsored "The Talk“, Debby lrving, the author of Waking Up White“; Dr. Brenda Salter McNeil author of "Road Map to Reconciliation" ; promoted the attendance of focus groups to the 2-day Racial Equity institute Workshop(REl); participated in Raleigh Organizing Against Racism Committee (ROAR).
